5 Reasons the Jeep Renegade Is Awesome
The Jeep Renegade is the smallest Jeep in the lineup, but it offers a big driving experience, and it has a lot of character. This subcompact crossover vehicle features the classic Jeep look with many of the features and benefits you would get in a larger vehicle. Here are some of the reasons whey the Jeep Renegade is awesome.
The Size and Style
On the outside of the Renegade, you’ll get the traditional Jeep grille and circular headlights. The smaller size makes it easier to drive in tight neighborhoods and on city streets, so if you live in an urban area, you can easily park where you need to during the week, and then escape on your off-road adventures over the weekend. On all the models except for the Sport, you can add a removable My Sky sunroof, which features panels that can be manually removed for open-air driving.
The Off-Road Capabilities
The Renegade comes in four different trim levels, and while they are all capable of tackling off-road conditions, the Trailhawk trim is the one to beat. This trim comes with four-wheel drive and a raised suspension to help you power over rough terrain. It also comes with tow hooks, hill descent control, and skid plates. The 17-inch alloy wheels come with all-terrain tires, and there is a full-size spare.
The Power
There are two engines available with the 2017 Renegade. The Sport and the Latitude come standard with the base 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that will get you 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. This comes only with a six-speed manual transmission. The Limited and Trailhawk come standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Jeep pairs this with a nine-speed automatic transmission. You can opt for the larger engine with the Sport or Latitude, and all the models except the Trailhawk are available in either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
Safety
All of the Renegade models have anti-lock brakes and several airbags. There is a driver side knee airbag, side curtain airbags, and front side airbags. Hill-start assist is standard, along with a rearview camera on all the trims except the Sport. Other optional safety features include rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, forward collision mitigation, and automatic emergency braking.
Uconnect
The Uconnect infotainment system is one of the best on the market. It comes with voice command and many optional features. Add Uconnect 6.5 Nav for a 6.5-inch touch screen and sensor-assisted GPS, or get the Uconnect Access system for additional safety features, voice texting, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a vehicle finder. The Uconnect Access system also allows you to connect to your vehicle via your smartphone and access emergency services.
These are a few of the features that help the Jeep Renegade stand out. It has many of the same features as the larger Jeeps in the lineup — but in a smaller package that is easy and fun to drive no matter where you take it.
