FCA to Offer Jeep Plug-In Hybrid

FCA to Offer Jeep Plug-In Hybrid

Are you ready for a Jeep Plug-In Hybrid? Because they’re on the way. Here’s what you need to know.

Which Jeep Plug-In Hybrids are Coming?

By 2022, Jeep is expected to release up to eight plug-in hybrids into the U.S.

(The company has already announced plug-in hybrid versions of Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass models for the European market; both were on display at the 2019 Geneva auto show).

Benefits of Driving a Plug-In Hybrid

  • Favorable (and sometimes very favorable) mpg
  • There are also environmental benefits. Since hybrid plug-ins use less gas, they produce fewer harmful emissions. Their emission levels are lower than both gas vehicles and regular hybrids.
  • PIHVs give you the ability to run off of either electricity or gas (or even both on the same trip, in certain cases)
  • Their generous electric range (50+ miles in many cases)
  • Other extras like regenerative braking

Plug-In Hybrid vs Hybrid Difference

The main difference between the two is that plug-ins are able to be connected to an outside electrical source in order to charge its battery.

In general, PIHVs also have larger, more powerful batteries.
